Arbidella Akers-Garner

Arbidella “Arbie” Akers-Garner, age 88 of Somerset, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Arbie was born on August 5, 1937 at Wallin, KY, the daughter of Hiram C. Akers and Shelley Elizabeth Blanton Akers. Arbie attended the University of Cincinnati and worked as the Office Manager for Tri-State Pulmonology in Cincinnati, OH for over 15 years. On April 14, 1990, married Billy Garner. Arbie enjoyed her family, roses, fashion and Lake Cumberland.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Garner; one son, Anthony Thomas (Gail); her step daughter, Jenny Garner Tharp (Ken) of Somerset; her grandchildren, Lindsay Patrick (Sergio) and Jarrod Thomas; step grandchildren, Nicholas Tharp and Nolan Tharp; and twin great grandchildren, Harper and Oliver Patrick; extended family members, neighbors and friends who are saddened by her passing.

In addition to her parents, Hiram and Shelley Akers, Arbie was preceded in death by two brothers, Clint Akers and Herman C, “Chuck” Akers; and three sisters, Helen Wynn, Betty “Boots” Walker and Joy McLain.

Visitation for Arbie will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY. The funeral service will follow on Saturday, April 23rd at 12:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, 4790 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY.
