Betty Cook

Betty Jean Cook, age 89, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, September 4, 2026 at her home.

Betty was born May 7, 1937 to the late Joe Hughes and Fannie Wilson Hughes in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was a member of Dixie Bend Baptist Church. She enjoyed walking, picking blackberries with her family, quilting, crocheting and playing bingo.

She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Barry D. Cook, her twin sister Jody Waddle and several other sisters and brothers.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 70 years, Morris Cook, sons:

Ronald L. Cook (Marilyn) of Beechgrove and Terry L. Cook of Somerset; along with 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 10:30am-12:30pm in the Southern Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to begin at 12:30pm. Entombment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Southern Oaks Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements for Betty Jean Cook.
