Brenda Hayes

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Clayton Hayes, age 83, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, October 31, 2025 at her home.

Brenda was born on July 3, 1942 to the late Simon Clayton and Catherine Clayton in Detroit, Michigan.

She was a member of Life Church. She enjoyed camping, going to the beach and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. She loved her husband and family dearly. She was an avid UK Wildcats fan, especially basketball.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Catherine Clayton, and an infant brother.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 65 years, Bob Hayes, son Troy Hayes (Sharon) of Somerset; daughters Tammie Ellis (Joe) of Somerset and Tonya Beringer (Billy) of St. Augustine, FL; sister Anna Brown of Henderson, Ky; along with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and a fur baby, Lucy. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 11am to 1pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with a funeral service to begin at 1pm with Bro. David Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
