Edna Mae Buxton

Ms. Edna Mae (Goff) Buxton, of Frankfort, Kentucky, formerly of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky having attained the age of 90 years, 2 months, and 8 days. She was born in the Rush Branch Community of Pulaski County, Kentucky, on Saturday, July 27, 1935, the daughter of Green & Nannie (Adkins) Goff.

As a former U.S. Air Force wife, she lived in many states in the USA, including South Carolina, Mississippi, Michigan, and for a long period in San Antonio, Texas. She also lived in the Philippine Islands for over a year with her husband and three children. Edna was a housekeeper at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for 21 years, worked several years for Britthaven Nursing Home, and Oakwood Residential Facility, both in Somerset. She also served as a bartender at Kelly NCO Club in San Antonio, Texas for seven years. As she often told in stories, she worked as a teenager at a candy factory in Louisville, Kentucky making licorice. Her favorite activity was to go dancing and she could be found at the Endzone Pizza Pub or with friends every Friday night in Somerset. She made many good friends there, who always made her feel beautiful and special.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack M. Buxton, daughter, Kathy Sue Goguen, infant son, Mark Anthony Buxton, brothers, Clifford Goff, Charles Goff, Lenard Goff, Carl Goff, sister, Ruth Ellen (Goff) Smith, and Edith (Goff) Prewitt.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline (& Michael) Lynch of Frankfort, Kentucky, Patrick Scott (& Amy) Buxton of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, grandchildren, Shawn Paul (& Andrea) Goguen of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer Michelle (& George) Queen of Dover, Delaware, Michael Jason (& Tonya) Lynch of Dallas, Texas, Hayley Marie Lynch of Frankfort, Kentucky, Kristen Leigh Goguen of Dallas, Texas, Katlyn Michelle Buxton of Oregon, Stephan Perry (& Hannah) Harness of Coventry, Rhode Island, Jesse Robert Harness of Knoxville, Tennessee, great-grandchildren, Nathan Goguen, Hunter Goguen, Xavier Allen, Jordan Allen, Elijah Allen, Noah Allen, Isaiah Queen, Emma Lynch, Aiden Lynch, Vivian Anne Harness, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of the New’s Monticello Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Smith officiating. Special music provided by Pat Buxton, Amy Buxton, and Kysie Lyons. Burial was in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Emma Lynch, Aiden Lynch, Pat Buxton, Jason Lynch, Butch Lyons, and Jennifer Queen.
