Edwin Morrow

January 21, 1928 — December 30, 2025

Edwin Morrow, 97, of Somerset, Kentucky Passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his residence.

Edwin Joseph Morrow was born on January 21st, 1928 in Jabez, Kentucky, a place that raises you sturdy, curious, and built of grit. His early years had all the makings of a Mark Twain novel, learning early on how to work fast, laugh hard, and a talent for finding trouble where none had been advertised.

By his own account, he was a spirited young man. Nicknamed 'Moose' by friends he was full of mischief, yet guided always by a deep devotion to family. Then he met Thelma - the day that quietly changed everything. Ed always said meeting her saved his life, and anyone who knew him agreed. So taken was he that he rode his donkey down to the neighboring holler day after day, a devoted courtship that ended, as he hoped, in yes. They married in a grocery store, armed with forged permission slips and a firm belief that love would sort out the rest. In Ed's telling, that was the moment his real life began.

Like many of their generation, Ed and Thelma followed work wherever it could be found, moving throughout the Tri-State area of Indiana, Ohio, and Northern Kentucky. Ed built a successful career as a machinist at Chrysler and Ford, and together they raised their sons Larry, Steve, and Robert along the way. But no matter where life took him, "down home" was always calling. Ed was grateful when the day finally came to return for good, settling on a small farm in Science Hill, Kentucky, a place he called the most beautiful on earth.

Ed was a devout believer in God and served as a deacon at Florence Church of Christ for many years. He was also a huge fan of University of Kentucky basketball. He found joy in simple, honest pleasures - fishing lines cast in quiet waters, gardens tended with patience and care, and time spent with the people he loved.

Never seeking recognition, Ed lived his faith through his actions. In daily acts of kindness, empathy, and an unprejudiced love for others, he showed what it means to live with integrity and made all around him feel welcomed and at ease.

Ed lived a long, full life, the kind that leaves the world quieter when it ends. Though he's now gone on ahead, his presence lingers in garden rows, the breeze across the corn tassels , front porches, and quiet moments where love feels especially close. We thank him for the years, the stories, and the love that will continue to ripple outward long after his passing. We were lucky. And he was deeply loved.

Edwin Morrow's legacy of love and grace will be treasured forever. He leaves behind three sons, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and his family at Lake Cumberland Church of Christ, who will cherish his memory.
