Ervel Merrick

Ervel E. Merrick, 87, of Science Hill, passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 in Lexington.

He was born September 7, 1933 in Naomi; son of the late Ernal & Bessie (Scrimager) Merrick. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Brenda & (Ernest) Begley of Lexington, Deborah Merrick of Somerset, and Beverly Owens of Somerset; two brothers, Wilbern Merrick of Nicholasville and Troy & (Elaine) Merrick of Science Hill; two sisters, Ruby & (Thomas) Shadoan of Somerset and Rose Stogsdill of Lexington; three sisters-in-law, Lucy Merrick of Science Hill, Linda & (Don) Watts of Nicholasville, and Mary Sue Merrick of Somerset; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Virgie (Crum) Merrick; and four brothers, Lendon, George, Vernon, & Arville Dale Merrick; a grandchild, Jennifer Rogers; a brother-in-law, Dale Stogsdill; two sisters-in-law, Mary Evelyn Merrick, and Enza Merrick;  a son-in-law, Ronnie Owens.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Troy Merrick and Bro. Marty Shadoan  officiating.

Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be after 12:00 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2021 until time for services at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
