Ethel Cogdill

Ethel N. Cogdill, age 86, of Ferguson, Kentucky, passed from this life on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Ethel was born on January 9, 1939 to the late Ora Jones and Bessie Sharp Jones in Whitley County, Kentucky.

She was a member of Old Fashion Faith Missionary Baptist Church since 1978. She loved raising and taking care of her plants and had a green thumb. She loved to can and sew. But most of all loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Bessie Jones, brother Charlie Jones, sisters: Sarah Hamblin, Naomi Brown, twin Rachel Paul and grandson Greg Jones.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Billy Joe Cogdill, sons: Carl Wayne Cogdill (Shelia) of Nancy, Ky; Randy Glenn Cogdill (Terri) and Jeffrey Alan Cogdill (Jennifer) all of Somerset; daughters: Wilma Elizabeth Burdine of Bronston, Ky; Rena Kay Lafavers of Somerset; Norma Jean Trull (Troy) of Science Hill, Ky; Kathy Jo Barber (Sammi) of Somerset; brother L.B. Jones of Dayton, OH; sisters: Roberta King of Stearns, Ky; along with 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 6pm-9pm in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 11am at the funeral home with Bro. Terry West officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
