Fredrick Lee St. Clair

Fredrick Lee St. Clair, Age 88, of Somerset, KY, passed away on August 24, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Fred was a member of Science Hill Trinity Church.

Fred was born to R.W. & Golda St. Clair in Lafayette, VA, on December 25, 1936. He was united in marriage to Nellie Jo (nee Whitlock) for 69 years. They had three sons: Mike (Jami) St. Clair of Ostrander, OH; Greg (Kathleen) St. Clair of Owensboro, KY; and Dennis (Jennifer) St. Clair of Somerset, KY. He also had ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Fred started his career as a salesman with Frito Lay in Roanoke, VA, later moving to Somerset, KY, where he lived for sixteen years raising their family. In 1974, Fred and Nellie Jo moved to Morristown, TN, where he later retired. After living there for 31 years, they returned to Somerset in 2021 to be closer to family. Happily, he went to work with his son in his lawn-mowing business, mowing with his son and grandsons in the summer and plowing when the snow started flying, relishing those times when they stayed up all night to get a job done. He loved going out every day working and talking to other people while he helped them with their household jobs. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and others. Fred also loved tending to the roses around his home. Most of all, he loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Christian man of integrity and strength, and he was respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Fred was preceded in death by his brothers: James Robert St. Clair and Alvin Edward St. Clair and his grandson, Eric Tyler Upchurch.

Visitation will be held at Southern Oaks Funeral Home of Somerset on September 4, 2025, from 4 – 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at Southern Oaks on September 5, 2025, at 12 p.m., Pastor Jacob Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
