Jennie Stringer

Jennie Lou Hamilton Stringer, age 86, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Jean Waddle Care Center. Jennie was born on October 9, 1939, in Ferguson, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Sanford P. Hamilton, Sr. and Edna Gibson Hamilton.

She was united in marriage to the late Hoyt L. Stringer on January 24, 1958, in Jellico, Tennessee, and they celebrated 37 years of marriage prior to his death in 1995. Jennie was a graduate of Ferguson High School and spent over 54 years dedicated to her work in the business office at Somerset City Hospital and Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where she was known for her strong work ethic, honesty, accurate work and sharp memory. Jennie was a dedicated member of the Somerset First Church of God until her health began to fail. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents and husband, Jennie is preceded in death by three siblings: Mary Elizabeth Young, Bennie Newell and Sanford Parker Hamilton, Jr. and four brothers-in-law: Leonard Whitis, Carroll Newell, Ralph Muse and Kenneth Young.

Jennie leaves behind one loving and devoted daughter, Cindy Lou Keith of Franklin, Tennessee, two beloved sisters, Ann Muse of Somerset, Kentucky, and Evelyn Whitis of Eubank, Kentucky, and one sister-in-law, Mollie Hamilton of

Somerset, Kentucky, in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends.

Being a devoted wife and mother was Jennie’s lifelong priority. She also enjoyed working in her yard, growing flowers and sitting on her porch sharing stories with friends. With several well-worn Bibles, Jennie departed this life into the arms of her Savior where she is eternally at peace.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the First Church of God, 346 Monticello Street, Somerset, Kentucky. A service celebrating the life of Jennie Lou Hamilton Stringer will be held at 1:00 pm at the church, with Pastor Tyler Ford and Rev. Danny Brummett officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
