Jimmie Ray " Jabo" Goggins, 79 of Somerset, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Jimmie was born on November 25, 1945 to the late Dorothy E. Goggins. He attended the Bourbon School prior to Ferguson Highschool where he completed the eleventh grade. Jimmie enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 from which he was honorably discharged. He was employed by Magna Graphic in Lexington, Kentucky until 1979. He married Mary Holts Goggins on November 25, 1978 in Somerset, Kentucky. Following his marriage, Jimmie moved to Somerset in 1979, where he was employed by Somerset Refinery as a steelman until February of 2010 when the refinery closed.
Jimmie enjoyed playing pool, horse shoes, golf, horseback riding , yard work and watching sports. Jimmie was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon on November 18, 2001.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Goggins, their two children, Kendra Carter of Lexington and Keith (Staci) Goggins of Nicholasville,his three grandchildren; Darien Tichenor, Bax Goggins and Jet Goggins,and a special grandaughter, Aijah Carrender, Kenny Holts , a nephew who he raised as his son and who's four children,Kayli, Kenyean, Keilin and Aijah he was a grandfather to. A great grandson Karter Suiter, Three siblings, Richard Alexander of Chicago, Illinois, Carol Green of Somerset, Kentucky and Ricky (Amy) Goggins of Lexington, Kentucky, a special family friend Joe McKinley and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy E Goggins, two brothers, Joe Arnold and George Green as well as one niece and nephew.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Pastor Seibert Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends on November 6, 2025 at Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:00 AM till time for services.
Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, with Deon Holts, Christean Holts, Ronnie Ingram Jr., Scott Ingram, Keith Goggins and Robert Holts as pallbearers and Antonio Falkner and Scott Alexander as Honorary Pallbearers .
