Joann Rogers

Angela “JoAnn” Roberts Rogers, age 78 of Nancy, KY passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, KY.

JoAnn was born on April 1, 1948, in Somerset, Kentucky, to the late Lee Alvin Roberts and Geneva LaFavers Roberts. A faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Nancy, Jo Ann lived a life centered on her faith, family, and service to others. She began her career as a seamstress with Palm Beach before dedicating seventeen years to Hopkins Elementary School, where she was a valued member of the school community.

JoAnn found great joy in life's simple blessings. She loved tending her garden, preparing delicious meals, and welcoming family and friends around her table. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and togetherness. She especially cherished spending time with her beloved husband and family, creating countless memories through everyday moments. Nothing brought JoAnn greater happiness than her grandsons. She treasured every opportunity to care for them, faithfully taking them to practices and games and supporting them in all they did.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Martin Rogers of Nancy, KY and they were united in marriage on July 1, 1978 in Russell Springs, KY; her daughter Teresa Epperson (Joe) of Somerset; two grandsons, Dr. William Ray Hislope M.D. (Rachel) of Lexington and Dr. Thomas Martin Hislope M.D. (Peyton) of Louisville; one great granddaughter, Aurora JoAnne “Rory” Hislope and one soon to be born great grandson, Jack Martin Hislope; two brothers, Bruce A. Roberts (Betty) and Stan Roberts (Zona) both of Somerset; nieces and nephews, Angela Stringer (Roy), Stephanie Halcomb (Stacy) and Jason Roberts (Stephanie); great nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends who are deeply saddened by her passing.

Along with her parents, Lee and Geneva Roberts, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elza and Thelma Rogers.

Visitation for JoAnn will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Church officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joe Epperson, Jason Roberts, Roy Stringer, Stacy Halcomb, Jimmy Whittle and Doug Lane.
