Phillip Moran

Phillip Dale Moran, age 74 of Somerset, KY passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Phillip was born on August 12, 1951 at Nancy, KY, the son of Carson Odell Moran and Lillie McGowan Moran. He was a 1970 graduate of Nancy High School. He worked at Tecumseh Products and later he was a Faculty Member and taught Electrical Engineering at Somerset Community College. Phillip was married to Tater Taylor on June 11,1977 and they shared almost 49 years of marriage prior to his passing. He enjoyed working on computers and helping others, but most importantly, Phillip loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, “Tater” Moran; their daughter, Angel (Jeremy) Tucker of South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Brendan and Aria Tucker who lovingly called him “Deez,” extended family members, co-workers, neighbors and friends who are saddened by his passing.

In addition to his parents, Carson and Lillie Moran; Phillip was preceded in death by his brothers, George Moran, Lindsey Moran, Roger Moran and James “Woody” Moran; and his sisters, Alta Zimmerman, Leva Clotfelter, Linda Davis and Sylvia Ping.

Visitation for Phillip will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. His funeral service will follow on Monday, July 6th at 12:00 pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Terry Grider officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
