Raymond Massey

Raymond Nicholas "Nick" Massey, age 91, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on September 1, 1934, in Somerset, Kentucky, Nick was the son of the late John Massey and Juil Flener Massey. He was a member of Harmony Fellowship Church and a man whose life was centered on faith, family, and simple pleasures. A lifelong resident of Somerset, he was both born and peacefully passed away at the family homeplace on "The Massey Hill," a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He dedicated many years to serving his community through his work, spending twenty-one years with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and seventeen years with Amstutz Hatchery in Somerset. Nick had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, but nothing brought him greater happiness than the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and the generations that followed. His quiet strength, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and treasured always.

He is survived by one son, Raymond “Nicky” (Sandy) Massey, Jr. of Somerset; three daughters, Debra (Mike) Webb of Somerset, Bobbi Jo (John) Wilson of Somerset and Barbara (Todd) Hansford of Somerset; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Angie) Massey, Hilary (Abel) Logan, Danielle (Chris) Foley, Jordan (Kelley) Wilson, Kati Wilson, Zachary Hansford and Joshua (Odessa) Hansford; fifteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; and other family members, friends and neighbors who mourn his passing.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Nancy Ann Fulcher Massey, whom he married in Somerset on August 29, 1953 and she preceded him on January 26, 2011; two grandchildren, Benjamin Webb and Heather Hansford; six brothers, John Massey, George Massey, Kenneth Massey, Steve Massey, Jake Massey and Joe Massey; and two sisters, Mary Cummins and Margaret Holt.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 6, 2026 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Adam Owens officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Zachary Hansford, Joshua Hansford, Dawson Conway, Jonathan Massey, Hunter Massey and Davin Massey. Honorary pallbearer will be his great grandson, Laiken Webb.
