Ruth Irene Ray

Ruth Irene Ray, age 91, of Russell Springs, KY, formerly of Somerset, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Fair Oaks Nursing and Rehab in Jamestown, KY.

Ruth was born on January 22, 1934 to the late Hurstle Lay and Opal Wright Lay. She was married to James Thomas Ray and he preceded her in death. Ruth was the former owner of an antique store in Burnside, KY…… she loved antiques, watching westerns, golfing, and horses… she attended Church of Christ in Somerset.

She is survived by one son, Robert Ray; two brothers, Bill Lay of OK, and Jerry Lay of KY; one sister, Gina Wolf of FL; one granddaughter, Taylor Ray; and several nieces and nephews and other family members and friends who are deeply saddened by her passing.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Ray; one brother Buford Lay; and four sisters, Christine Vockell, Wilma Crabtree, Dorinda Layman and Yvonne Wright.

Entombment services will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 2:00pm Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
